The time is NOW to take action on making your dreams a reality
It was about ten years ago, maybe more, that I was sitting in my living room, talking on the phone with my friend Sylvia. We were discussing potential collaboration opportunities that aligned with our shared love of all things in the natural world.I can't remember the full conversation but I know that I was obsessed with the word "Transformation". I would scribble it on pieces of paper like a high school boyfriends last name with my first name. That word swirled in my head day and night. As the conversation continued, I blurted out "The Nature of Transformation".Now I had a phrase that had a hold on me.Our collaboration project hasn't materialized yet (although the concept is in development). But I had the tiny seed of what would soon become my first solo book:The Nature of Transformation. A comprehensive life coaching system inspired by nature to heal your mind, body, and spirit.Did the completion of the book need to take ten years? Well yes and no. I still had a lot of learning and healing to do in those ten years. I, unfortunately, was required to take several u-turns where I not only got off course but got lost. I put TNOT, as I lovingly referred to my book, on the back burner for years, untouched. I almost gave up. I'm so glad and proud that I didn't.Here are the 3 lessons I learned in making my dream of being a published author a reality.
Dreams Evolve. The concept of my book went through many evolutions. I reimagined and reconfigured it every time I picked it up again after a long hiatus. It's not only ok for your dream to evolve, it's part of the process. So don't get too stuck on a specific outcome. It's ok to imagine the outcome you desire but be open to new and better possibilities that shape what the dream ultimately becomes.
There's a Danger in Leaving Your Dream Untouched for too Long.During those times where I had an unfinished manuscript sitting on my desktop, I could have just as easily given up and given in to the temptation not to complete it. Countless people do give up. There was no deadline. No one was expecting anything from me. I certainly didn't have publishers knocking on my door. Time and distance create inertia. And inertia is the most dangerous adversary to making your dreams a reality.
Trust the Timing of Your Life and Your Dream's Life.I waffle between thinking that the time period between that day that I had the idea of The Nature of Transformation to now was wasted time and thinking that the timing was perfect. My entire journey contributed to the product I'm introducing to the world now. I've met people along the way that have taught me so much and who have significantly contributed to this exact moment. Sometimes I just wish I had been brave enough during those years to overcome the self-doubt.
I hope you find inspiration to dust off the dreams you put on the shelf or to start fantasizing about the art of the possible. If you have a little voice in your head that points you in the direction of a certain activity, listen to it. It won't lead you astray.Find the bookhere:https://mybook.to/NatureofTransformationIf you liked this blog - share with a friend.
