About Janet Zavala, Certified Life Coach
My story …
It’s important for me to live my life with passion, connecting with others and making a difference when I can.
I am a mother to an incredible son who teaches me every day about service, humility, compassion and strength.
I’ve learned through my own struggles …
I have had my own challenges in life including a challenging childhood and failed marriage. At various times in my life, I have struggled with it all – money problems, loneliness, addiction, co-dependent relationships, and much more. I’ve made a lot of mistakes but looking back, these were the times that taught me the most.
Through it all, I always believed that there was a better life out there for me – and for everyone. I knew I had lessons to learn in order to overcome the debilitating fears and negative thought processes that were holding me back.
I’ve worked in the corporate world for over 25 years…
I’m so grateful for my experiences in the corporate world. I have had the opportunity to learn incredible things and meet smart and ambitious people. It is here that I found my passion for coaching people. Meeting employees “where they were” and helping them to hone their strengths and apply them to achieve maximum results has been very rewarding.
As anyone who has worked in the corporate environment knows, it can be very stressful and challenging at times. These are the times when you look back and realize how much you grew. I’ve learned so much during these times – about myself and about others.
Along the way, I have learned to lead with compassion. I learned that not everyone fits a perfect corporate mold – including myself, and trying to force someone to fit that mold is a recipe for disaster and unhappiness. I learned that there are a lot of people just trying to do the best they can in any given situation. I learned the meaning of truly working hard and testing your own and other’s perceived limitations. I have seen integrity displayed in even the most challenging times.
I’m a budding entrepreneur and a Certified Coach…
Becoming a Certified Coach was one of the BEST decisions I’ve made in my life.
Coaching has not only helped me transform my own life, but as a coach I’m able to do the work I love and help others transform their own lives. I take my work very seriously and consider it a huge honor to work with each and every one of my clients.
I try not to take myself too seriously but I don’t always win that battle. I’m obsessed with personal development and learning new ways of creating positive change in my life and in the lives of my clients.
Some of my challenging personality traits, I blame on being a Gemini. I have ideas popping like popcorn in my brain and I’m always trying to do too many things at once.
I know that I can create stress for myself and, at times, procrastination gets the best of me. This monkey mind is one of the reasons I have made meditation my daily non-negotiable activity. Meditation grounds me and keeps me centered. It is where my inner voice and most authentic self resides.
I believe in the power of healthy routines.
As Louise Hay says ““How you start your day is how you live your day. How you live your day is how you live your life.” To make health and happiness a priority, you need to include activities in your morning and daily routines that set you up for success.
Progress and change can be really hard. I have been able to spot my own negative thought patterns and behaviors and can often redirect my energy to something more productive or relaxing.
I’m not perfect and I don’t pretend to be. My house isn’t always clean and my yard is often a mess. I actively try to have more fun because I’m extremely comfortable sitting alone by my pool with a good book. The introvert in me prefers it like that. I’m always working hard to become the best, most authentic version of myself. But I know perfection is a myth, so I’m comfortable with my quirks.
I believe that people find the most balance and peace when they pay attention to body, mind and soul. Each area of your life needs to be treated with great care and affection.
Life is a journey and I’m still on it. I’m walking this journey with my head held high and trying to enjoy every minute of it !
That’s a little about me, now I want to learn about YOU!
